in the absence of sunlight

Solo performer and solo spectator in a radical pursuit
of intimacy

i'm glad i've seen you -
can we make a time to meet?
call me...
in the absence of sunlight is an original one-on-one live art event, drawing inspiration from Australian writer Marjorie Barnard’s short story The Persimmon Tree, where a woman recovering from illness lives vicariously through her neighbour – secretly watching them live life outside while she is destined to remain within.
Creator/performer Tamara Searle explored what might happen when the ill woman meets this neighbour after closely observing them for so long. Tamara plays the recuperating observer while you, audience member, are the neighbour – subverting traditional paradigms (and accompanying expectations) of the spectator/performer relationship.
